I have a small leak coming from the rear diff on my '67 Mustang, I have a new pinion seal but I need to know what grade oil to use. It has a limited slip diff. Thanks smile

I did post this on the Mustangs forum but no-one seems to know :-o

Is it a std diff or aftermarket?

Thanks for the reply. I'm not too sure but I think it was manufactured by Motive Gear. I've just been through all the paperwork I have for the car and there is a mention of EP85/90. Does this sound right?

Sounds right to me, that's pretty much standard issue, most diff oils will be around the EP90 mark.

Ok, thanks for your help Andy and Lee smile Rick thought 90 would be ok but he wanted it confirmed so that if it chews up I won't blame him lol (Talk about passing the buck lol). =)

You assume right Chris lol. Well, it might be. The diff and the prop shaft will be sorted this week hopefully. It should be ready soon. Not sure about the driver though! And don't expect any fast numbers lol, I would like to manage an et under 20 though smile

Yeah it's getting there but it's a lot better mechanically now than when you and me first saw it sat in that field eh? lol. Rick has overcome a lot of the niggly problems. I love driving it, I get butterflies everytime I'm about to take it out biggrin Plans for F & T going quite well thanks, just waiting for new seals for the brake calipers to come in from the states so there will be a bit of a thrash on it. He's looking forward to getting back in the drivers seat, it's been a long while. Will you be there with the Funny Car?

I bet Rick can't wait to get out there again, its been a while! The rumour is we will be there with the funny car with a planned 2 runs to test some new parts in the gearbox, so I imagine I will be rather busy for the day, but any spare time I will be over to see you guys and lend a hand if needed. Will be good to be at the track with the car again, Germany seems like ages ago!

I googled Castrol B373 oil but it says in the description that it is not suitable for road vehicles. My car is street legal and will be primarily used on the road so will this oil be unsuitable??

beer and racing fuel, there's an offer hard to refuse! I just hope the weather is good, actually I will settle for just dry! The only down side being is I won't have time to enter the santa pod/practical photography competition, unless I sneak off of course!

Fingers crossed for the right weather. You should enter the comp, you take some great shots.

I'm taking the diff pinion assembly to Geof Hauser on Monday, apparently changing the seal is very difficult to do without the right kit, smash it has a collapsible thingymajig in the wotsit nerd and if this collapses then it's game over eek Geof says he can do it this bit for me and then we can put it back in the car. woohoo

Great description there! when it comes to pressing in parts haing the right kit is esential not to bugger everything. I hope it goes smoothly and it is back on the street rather fast, which I am sure it will be biggrin

Thank you for liking the pictures, I have finally been talked into putting a portfollio together to show people, maybe a new job on the horizon, fingers crossed!

Did you decide on a picture for the flame and thunder page? I wonder if they will be doing a photo entry this year?
