We've just had 4 days there and towards the end I was running out of steam to be honest. What did anyone else think?

Same as.
Its a place you only want to visit once. Bit of a tourist rip off in places.
Imho of course.

Overrated, barring the gondola ride.

And don't ever, ever eat near the Ponte Rialto. My main looked so bad I didn't eat it, and then I threw up the starter.

I love Venice, I have been there in 8 separate holidays. We don’t stay in Venice its self, but on the mainland and take day trips to the islands. There isn't much to do on Venice island other than stroll around sightseeing, that what I love about it! Get away from the tourist traps and there is something to see around every corner. My main tips would be to avoid peak season and wear comfortable shoes!

We spent 45 euros on two coffees in the main square which was frightening. It seemed after a few days that once you have seen one canal, you've seen 'em all.
