£200 per month - what will this buy / lease / rent
Discussion
Hi All,
I need to organise a good value hatchback for taking children around the place. I have in mind something the size of a Seat Ibiza, or similar. Needs to be able to take just two child seats in the back.
My question to the wise people of PH is how I should proceed. I can lease something like a Seat Ibiza for around £200 per month, and have no hassle over servicing etc, and be comfortable that it is as safe as it can be in terms of current technology. Or, I can buy a Focus or similar for maybe £5k. Or maybe I am missing something altogether as an option.
All advice gratefully received.
Cheers.

ive always felt 200 is a little short, prob need 250-300 for something 'reasonable'
although nissan quashqai are that kind of money it seems, if you like that kinda thing.
or golf bluemotions and audi a3 1.6's are about £250
or vw tiquans for a little more, which is financially a cracking deal imo
problem with leasing is that most of the deals are business only.
on a pcp, i reckon your talking about a 10k car and there arent many new 10k cars out there.
few deals on here http://www.carleasingspecialoffers.co.uk/
or good old ling http://www.lingscars.com/price_list.php?make=ALL&a...

as long as the total you pay adds up to less that the depreciation, i guess it makes more sense than buying outright.
like i say, not all deals allow you to 'just add the vat'
and i wouldnt hold youself to just leasing, a decent deal on a pcp can be just as good if not better (search bmw 635d and merc amg c63 deals on here)
www.drivethedeal.com will give you discounted new prices and a cost as pcp.
plus you can end a pcp (with some charges of course), but i know know if getting out of a personal lease it even possible?

Renault for a £999 down, £199 p/m over 2yrs lease deal on their Clio sport 200 cups. Cant think of another manufacturer that allows you to get a brand new 200bhp car for that.
That's a pretty good deal!Motorrad said:
Have looked and cannot find the 'too good to be true' 199 quid a month clio sport deal anywhere. Link please!
I can assure you it exists, im on it with my 3 week old 200 cup
Let me dig up the link, its originally a Lookers deal but other Renault garages will match it (got mine from Crawley Down Renault).

[edit] It appears the £199 per month expired in Sept, its now £205 per month instead.
Cash Price: £16,710
Dealer Contribution £3,072
Customer Deposit £999.00
24 Monthly Payments: £199
Acceptance fee: £99
Credit facility fee: £139
Option to purchase fee: £10
GFV/Optional Final Payment: £8,575
Total Amount Payable: £14,620.80
Typical 4.9% APR
And its a PCP, so if the car is worth more than 8575 in 24 months then thats cash in your pocket.
Cheapest one on autotrader at 18 months old is £11600, trade value is prob about 10k?

Any track day restrictions on a leased car? 'Cause I'd find it impossible to resist taking that Renault out
well they actively promote it on their website.

People always rave on about how good they think Ling cars is, but I would disagree. Once you have spent a few hours shopping around you will quickly discover you can get more for your money elsewhere. I don't think Ling has as good deals as she used to.
