Any Skyline owners out there?
Discussion
Hi ya all.
So any GTR owners out there then??
Plenty of cylinders and BHP on this board and always good to see. Hopefully see some of you at Le Mans and hopefully some skylines as a bit of a rarity these days.
Mine.. A gtr Vspec with steel turbos, cams, big coolers and Nismo GT1 Wheels. Probably around the 450 BHP mark but who cares.
Keep on trucking, NLW.

Can't answer that although there are two types of tuning - done properly and bodged. My mate has a Nissan 300zx tuned to 450bhp. He had someone just turn up the boost on the turbos and nothing else, didn't cost hardly anything. This will put a lot of stress on everything without the improved oil cooling and intercooling. Plus he canes the arse off it before it's warmed up properly. Wouldn't fancy buying one used unless you fancy a service gold card.
Tuning a Skyline is an expensive business if done properly. I'd certainly recommend getting the cooling side of things done first. Standard Skyline turbos can take up to 1 bar of boost, and too often just whacjking the boost up causes them to fail. Boost controller needed.
My standard car is very reliable, and has never let either me or the previous owner down in 69,000 miles.
If things are done to them properly, then there is no reason why a 500 bhp car cannot be as reliable as a 320 bhp car. It's just that the tuned one wil need a little more tlc!

LOL he got the boost turned up and they lied about the HP as well....real cheap
...and the one that came back from the Nurbergring on a low loader with computer controlled everything broken...about 8,000 quids worth of repairs.
He cut his losses and traded it for another one!
Oh and aren't the interiors stunning they look like they were designed by a taxi driver

who cares about interior toffer?
give me big ponies, traction in all weather and god knows what else.
as matt says tuning skylines can be expensive.
750 bhp is ludicrous money. I would say 50 grand to get there and a rebuld each year! it is only a 2.6 staright six after all!
up to about 500 bhp they run all day. mate has one with 100k miles and it has done 500 bhp all its life!
500 bhp you need bigger blowers, intercooler upgrade, clucth, injectors, fuel pump, decent ECU mgmt, bigger clutch, some decent stoppers as well cos they aint light, filters and breathing stuff like exhuast...
most come with them on now so you pays yr way!
