I'm going to Le tania next year by the looks of it, has anyone been? whats it like? I've stayed in meribel before, just wondering what the nightlife is like in le tania and if it is easy to get to meribel in the evenings for drinkypoos

Its a very quiet resort with only two pubs, one an irish style pub and the other more of a local french pub. This was a few years ago and may have changed though. Mind you it was cheep and the skiing was spot on.

Not much to do there. and will need to thumb a lift or have a driver....

Did walk back from Le Tania a couple of times back to Meribel... fair walk and watch out for the wolves ;-)

watch out for wolves? Nah, they'll definitely get relegated this season!

I really liked La Tania because of it's tucked away position and I thought the little bars were quite adequate and much cosier than Merrihell. I went over Dec/Jan and spent New Year's eve there, it is certainly more suited to people who don't want the 18-30/stag night type holiday.

I am tempted to give it a try this year ,

I normally frequent 1350 or 1650 Courchevel ,

last year my son convinced me to go to Meribel with him and his friends , at least it reminded me why I normally avoid staying there smile. Meribel is good for skiing through .

Are you a Russian Oligarch with a particularly poor taste in 1-piece Prada skiwear?

:-)

The nice thing I found with La Tania was being able to make an early quick start to the top of Chenus and either heading towards Courchevel or Meribel on fairly fresh snow before the hordes reach it. It's also a little vally that many of the 3V lift pass people don't use when going back and forth from Meribel to Courchevel. Personally I think its a great place - I'm not keen on Meribel and I thought Val Thorens was awful.... Courchevel is well, just too full of Prada, fur headbands and gold anodised accessories and pushy shouty Russians.

I can highly recommend SkiBeat who have a number of chalets in La Tania

No , Nevica biggrin

My son sometimes wears the suit just for the fun , plus he reckons it is more comfortabe than anything else he can find . Has to be a good day though as it has no waterproof qualities left.

We always go with Silverski , on a last minute booking for under £400 all inc ,
plus of course a 3v pass

La Tania night life not the best but couple of decent bars, best place from memory was( iirc) the Ski Lodge or sklodge opposite shops/ ski hire. Had sport on fair bit but also bands couple of nights , got fairly lively. Also out on the road to the bubble lift Le Tigres or something like. Not exactly kickin but friendly and decent biere, kindly put a Forest game on for us one night.
Dont think a night in Meribel on the cards unless you want a hefty taxi bill !
Skiing is decent enough and less poodles than Courchevel.
Which company are you going with.
