i have an import corrado race car that will be road registered for its hill-climb class, i would like to know what sort of plates i can get away with. i obviously want to run little or no plates, and have seen other competitors using small almost sticker style plates. i also assume since its an import i can run smaller plates than usual. so whats the rules and what can i "get away" with??

Import from where?

Unless it has a small Japanese style plate recess making the usual style too big to fit, you have to stick to the normal size.

You can of course ignore that if you want and use anything, but be prepared for the possibility that it may be challenged.

The square plates are the smallest you can do. Is it a requirement of the hillclimb to have the plates fitted? If not I'd just attach the front one with cableties so you can take it off easily when you arrive.

Imports can get away with smaller letter sizes than UK registered cars, including a slightly smaller oblong plate size

The VOSA site should tell you all you need to know about the legal requirements (plate sizes, letter hights Etc).

Also try the number plate on-line manufacturers, where you can choose from legal or show plates, After that the choice is yours....

I know someone who failed scrutineering at a sprint for a small plate on a Scoob. "Must remain road legal at all times during the event" rolleyes

i beleive youre allowed to use smaller lettering (like on a motorbike) if the vehicle is imported from somewhere that means it was built without facility for fixing full size plates

cheers for the feedback, its from new zealand originally (so im lead to believe). the front end has been smoothed so there is no plate recess.
