Daft Chicane In Hamilton
Discussion
I had a message from an old friend yesterday. He said:
"Of late I have been in correspondence with our local newspaper The Hamilton Advertiser regarding a traffic chicane situated in Sherry Drive, Hamilton, near my home. There is no forward visibility at this chicane as it is situated on a bend in the road and due to the lack of visibility it leads to danger, frequent arguments, and frustration. I have nibbled at the council for the past five years to do something about it but so far to no avail. The newspaper has published a couple of very good articles making much of the fact that I am a retired traffic cop and hence speak with some authority.
The newspaper has put a poll up on their website
http://www.hamiltonadvertiser.co.uk/
(middle of the page about 1/3 of the way down). Could I ask you to vote (appropriately please) to increase the "Yes" vote as much as possible. The way that voting has gone on this it is fairly obvious that the Roads Dept are periodically block voting - otherwise there would be no 9%.
Could you also pass this request on to anyone else you feel would be prepared to take the time to vote for common sense?"
What riles me about this is the Roads Dept block voting on an issue which is dangerous and 'anti-driver', and if any of you feel like helping out it would be a blow for freedom. A block vote from the drivers' side would redress the balance.
If you Google the map (Sherry Drive Hamilton) you will see two chicanes - its the one near the bend which is stupidly troublesome.
Thanks.
