...who's running what?

I want to keep the "fast road" feel that I have at the moment but I'd like to be sitting about an inch lower and be held a lot tighter through the roundabouts of MK and occassional track outings.

I was thinking of something like Cobra Roadster 7's and getting them retrimmed in tan leather?

Any recommendations?

I have a Momo T-frame, the key advantage of which is bolting onto the existing rails with minimal fuss. Probably more of a 'race' than 'fast road' feel, though some people bend the seat a bit wider across the upper thigh part for easier in/out movement.

Does that seat sit you any lower than the standard ones? Can you use seatbelts with them or are they only for harnesses?

You sit significantly lower than the factory seats yes and still keep the forward-back adjustment. No tilt adjustment though as they're a fixed back seat.

I'm using the factory seatbelt with no real problems, though I'm planning to get a shorter stalk for the connector so I can run both sides down through the harness holes in the seat - at the moment the LHS sits over the top of the seat and so isn't as tight on the hip as I'd like.

The seats really do hold you in well though, makes a big difference in hard cornering.

I think Miata.net has a list showing most of the seats which physically fit in an MX5 as many are too wide.

Right I need opinions!

The cost of a retrim in tan leather turns out to be £not really worthwhile.

I think black seats might look ok, but opinion is divided - particularly PHer _batty_ who thinks it is going to look awful. But he has no taste.

Black seats? What do we think? (knob and handbrake will soon be black leather like the wheel)

Is that the original colour of your interior? It looks awesome!

New seats are surely more expensive than a retrim?

The current seats just don't hold me in place at all Mr Rider. Thats what got me looking for new seats, but new seats in tan leather seem very difficult to come by.

But now i'm thinking new black ones if the consensus is that they'd suit the interior.

I reckon black seats would look fine - match the steering wheel, centre console and upper dash anyway.
