Hey folks

Pick up my new toy tomorrow - slightly excited - oh yes

A few questions which searching on the internet I dont seem to be able to get a definative answer

Ok so car is a 6 month old Subaru Impreza WRX STI in standard tune

1. What is the service intervals - the salesman at the dealership said 12k which I thought to myself sounded very unlikely

2. What fuel should I be putting in? 95 or 98? or does it not matter too much If I get stuck for 98?

Thanks in advance

5th gear did a 95 vs 98 octane ron test featuring the current boxer engine, i can't find it on youtube though frown pretty sure there was a big difference

Service intervals are 12k or 12months whichever is sooner.. the big services are at

30k All fluids + Usual service items
50k Cam Belt + Usual Service items
60kall fluids + Usual Service items

In terms of servicing even the 50k cambelt service you shoould see change from £400, but the garage will advise you if you need the tensioer replaced. The tensioer will cost £120 to replace.

30k service you are looking at £300 max that at a main dealer!

Fuel wise, you can run them on 95 Ron but run better on 97+ RON

Steve

Overall they are a bit of a performance bargain. The low MPG is ofset by the lower than average service costs. when compared to a Focus RS, Audi S3 etc

I always changed the oil at 6k in my old 53 plate.

And it aways ran better on Optimax or similar. Felt a bit flat with 95.
