I have a cheapy seiko 5 SNK809 day/date auto but the day and date mechs have screwed up. It keeps good time but it really annoys me that the day and date are always wrong. Local jewellers want £40-odd quid to send it off for repair - it didn't cost that.
Is there anyone here that could fix it for me if I pop it in a jiffy? A few beer tokens if anyone's interested.

In what way has it screwed up, sometimes, it's simply a case of manually winding it on past the midnight marker a few times or back and forth - but this may royally fk it up so you have been warned.

So does the day and date change at the wrong time of day or not change at all?

Not at all. It's been Mar 3 since 3 March 2010. irked

Neither using the winder johnny nor winding the time on has any affect. Fairly sure at first it may've clicked when I tried but now nothing.

Have a black one myself - only losses 2-3 secs per day.
IIRC - the process for getting the dates/days lined up is a bit
fiddly, but if I managed to do it, everyone can.

When it's working it's childs play; clockwise for day, anti-clockwise for date (or t'other way round).

In the post yesterday so you should see it soon. thumbup

Ah bugger. grumpy

I was hoping something had just slipped out of alignment not actually broken. Ah well, c'est la vie. I'll just have to get another one.
Thanks for trying though. thumbup
If you want to practise your skills, feel free to do as you like with it - it's not worth the return postage to me.
