Have posted on the volvo section, but not sure people ever read it, also found the volvo forums rather arrogant!!!! so thought i would turn to the friendly TVR guys

Have a V40 late 2000X which idles between 150 - 900 rpm sometimes stalling, any ideas to solve this welcome, and i await the abuse!!!!!

Cheers Mark

Hi
I used to have a V40 T4 (what a beast that was!)
I had exactly this which steadily got worse. Turns out it was the temperature sender unit which was sending funny messages to the engine management system.
Volvo replaced mine at £150 as i'm useless with the spanners! Think the part was about £30. Hope that helps James

My S60 T5 did this, I cleared all the codes replaced vacuum pipes and bought a MAF sensor fixed every thing and gain about 8 mpg

I have a V40 T4 as the daily run around. Clean the idle valve first, easy job.

My daily drive is a diesel V70.
I find it a pleasant antidote to drive the Tuscan.

So this TVR driver won't be knocking Volvos!

But if it goes wrong I am in fortunate position of simply calling lease company, who get it sorted.

(Edit: The Volvo of course - not the TVR, which NEVER goes wrong!)

I use to have a 240GL estate 2.3, brill car, wish i didnt to into the back of that be van cry

I would have a T5 estate if i could aford one, volvo have priced me out of there market...hehe

If your any good with spanners try taking of the intake pipes and cleaning any sensors you can find and removing and rejoining the electrical connections too, this may help.
Good luck
