GT-R owners - need your advise

Guys,
I am in the position to purchase a new car......it needs to be used everyday but I don't want to go down the rep mobile route.
Looking at either an AMG C63 Merc (or E63) and a GT-R.
I love the look and presence of the GT-R but due to having 3 children and one wife, someone will be left behind.
On the other hand the C63 would hold all 5 of us if need be.
I have decided that if push come to shove, we can go out as a family in the wife's Disco 3 so the seating isn't too much of a problem (until I tell the wife
)
So has anyone been in the position of driving or even owning both vehicles? Any advice as to the best and worst of these cars.
I have driven the C63 and loved it and wil be trying a GT-R next week hopefully.

I've had my GT-R since last june and absolutely love it. I won't go on about how good that car is, because i don't think you'll all fit comfortably. I'm 5 ft 10 and a comfortable driving position means no rear legroom at all. My wife is slightly shorter, and the same applies. I would suggest that if you're always going to have 2 people in the rear seats, it's going to be a hell of a squeeze.

The C63 is more refined, has a better quality interior and its gearbox is a proper auto so its smoother. Its a proper C class and will do the family stuff better, no question.
Its also going to be cheaper to run as despite similar fuel consumption everything else costs quite a bit more with the GTR. Servicing and tyres especially.
I think spec for spec the GTR will (MY10 not the new one) be cheaper as Mercs are b...y costly for what they are.
But honestly, its batting in a different league performance wise, acceleration, handling, grip, the whole package. Its stupendously fast in nearly any circumstances and a thrilling sports car.
But its a perfectly acceptable daily driver, comfy, well planned ,well specced cabin and large boot.
You will find there's very little leg room behind the driver unless you have very short legs, think 911 or even Audi TT type space

I saw that..cool bit of kit...only question I had was what would be the state of the rear seat when the widget is removed after say 2 years. Especially on leather seats. Bad enough when you put a small child car seat on it...Still no near to making mind up, even with the input from some owners....

The key here is to drive both, but then it will inevitably come down to space and whether this is important. 3 people in the GTR is no problem as long as both front and rear passenger are not 6ft+ - but there is no way 5 people can safely fit in the thing. Despite this, you are still undecided so I presume the space thing is not *that* important? If so it will probably come down to how they drive

Simple drive the car, in my oppinion they are completely different so you should know straight away which floats your boat. My money is that the Gtr will blow u away, ive had Nobles, Ferrari, m3 etc nothing compares unless you spend 100k plus. You have a nice dilema, regards the back seats you can fit adults in the back for short journeys. I have taken my mates in the back several times so kids will be ok, but again test drive one fo the afternoon and try the kids.
Hope you end up with gtr, I keep asking myself what my next car is going to be!! Finding it hard to think of anything that could tempt me, great for the odd track day to!

Drive the GT-R & you'll know what's the right thing to do.
Having come from RS4's/6's & M5 (never fancied the C63) i was always looking for the best compromise vehicle, so i can say it all depends on what your No.1 priority is?? If biblical performance then the GT-R has next to no rivals, however the rear seats serve no real purpose as seats, so if it's family travel then the GT-R won't suit.
We have a well spec'd Q5 which is used for all family journeys so my decision became one driven by fun & not function (for a change) & the GT-R ended up top of that list. Floor that loud pedal in any gear & you'll know what to do

Actually, I think it's fair to say that from the R32 to the R35, the car has gottn bigger but the interior space progressively smaller.
An R32 has loads of room for 4 adults and luggage. The R35 has rear seats that are useless for anyone with limbs, and not that big a boot, to boot <ha, I made a pun> :P

I came from a c63 to the GT-R and theres a huge difference between between the 2.
The GT-R is way more hardcore with clunks from the gearbox which are a little concerning on your first drive but there completely normal.
It does feel more like a racecar and the ride pretty hard even in comfort.
The interior gets hot as does the boot but the performance is in another league. (The boot is a decent size).
Now the weather is getting colder one thing i can say about the GT-R is that it is a horrible drive until it reaches temp. It kangaroos and stutters in slow stop/start traffic making you look like an idiot driver. Once up to temp its fine tho. oh... and the brakes tend to squeal in slow traffic
The 2 back seats are ok for my 3 year old but the seat belt only just fits over a baby car seat. For an adult its tight but the legroom is a bit deceiving as the rear seats are deeper than standard seats. Its more a case of hitting your head on the sloping rear window.
I'm actually thinking of going back to a C63 as while not nearly as fast, its the better daily drive for sure if you want passengers in the back.
The GT-R is a SUPERB car but as a daily drive, it can get get a little tiresome in normal city traffic. Its also a big car and difficult to park in the average space esp if there are kerbs in front as the splitter doesnt quite make it over the top (at least where i am).
This proberly makes it looks like im putting a downer on the car but i'm not. It is a truely wonderfull car but if you have family with kids and use it for daily city commuting, there are better cars for the same price - just not the same performance.

I concur, after test driving one today, unless I take Douglas Bader for a drive, there aint no way I'm getting anyone in the back.I am 6 foot and with a decent 'comfortable' position, there is zero leg room.
I could adjust the seat and get about an inch or possibly two but that would only be for short journeys.
Still an awesome car and very docile in traffic and not as hardcore as I thought it would be.
