Hi there,

Looking for a bit of advice my 350i has an oil leak from the front of the engine.

This would appear to be coming from the "banjo" feed to the remote oil filter...fixing this as part of a radiator refurb.

The car is possibly a deviation from the norm (whatever that is!) as it is one of the five remaining 350i 2+2's , bit like the radiator config, I am not sure that the set-up is normal 350i?
Got the wedge steve heath bible but not specific enough in this area...guess it would be a lot thicker to cover everything wedge related!

Plus whilst I am at it is there any other front oil seals I need to look at..whipped off the alternator plus other stuff to clean up refurb whilst I am there...

Thanks in advance

Steve

The seal on this is the same as the oil filter one on one side, and on the other is a big fibre washer, you might need to cut that one by hand. Have you just tried tightening the nut? If that doesn't work, replace the rubber one and put blue hylomar (sparingly) on the fibre one.

Thanks for this, a while back a mate whipped the bolt out and tried re-seating the seal this reduced the leak but still isn't right.

So are there two seals then?

A rubber one bewteen banjo and bloke...then a cork gasket one between banjo and outer face?

Sorry if I sound thick here...

well you are wink, the trick is to grease the rubber seal well before tightening the joint up, not sure where you get the cork seal from, not listed with range rover, but think you can use another filter seal.

The car is always MOT'd just been sorned for the last 18 months, the developed a leak a couple of months back, so got that out at the mo, and going through the engine bay tidying stuff up and putting things right.

I will give you a shout if I ever decide to sell, it's a nice car and needs more use than she has been getting mate.

I will whip the bolt out over the weekend, see what is there...or not, may be that there is just a rubber seal and no cork one, which won't help matters, might give Roy he might know, think imon will be speaking to him as well.
