Finally got round to fitting my new dash this afty. Well, I got as far as the radio panel...

All went well until I re-connected the battery & heard a sort of buzzing sound, which I think must be something shorting? I should mention at this stage that I know pretty much jack about electrics...

Anyway, I disconnected the battery & checked the connections on the hazards, main light & fog lights, re-connecting the battery after each one. This seemed to solve it until I tried to lock the car (when I got the shorting sound again). I unlocked it and the buzzing stopped, but returned when I switched on either the fogs or hazards (though not the main lights).

I suspect I've just got the connector the wrong way round on the fogs & hazards. They are the 5-pin type on the end of ribbon type wires (and different to the ones I've seen on threads by others who have replaced their dash).

Before I go dismantle the panel once more(!), has anyone got any help/advice to offer?

Many thanks.

"Chumley in solving tech problem his self - shocker!"

Ignore this folks (for now at least). I had got the connectors wrong way round - Doh! Being a thicky I didn't realise there was a right/wrong was as they don't seem to be marked (how very un-TVR...)

I'll try the main dash tomorrow. Must remember to label each connector to make sure it goes back the right way round...

Stand by for possibly more cries for help...
