Mazda 3 MPS chips - advice
Discussion
Hi all
I have a Mazda 3 MPS which is about 18 months old and I am enjoying it but I am toying with the idea of improving the performance a bit.
I am new to the idea of tuning/modchips etc and not really sure where to start.
I would prefer to keep the car looking as standard, and having searched around the web I can see tuners advertising mods taking the car up to 300bhp, but with one offering substantially more than that (a stage 2 map with something like 340bhp from memory).
Apart from simply boosting the BHP, what other basic handling modifications should I do?
Thinking about doing this Spring/Summer next year
Thanks for any newbie guidance

i should imagen a simple map would offer in the region of 300hp
a stage 2 map will require supporting mods to gain 340hp.
i would see what the mainstream mappers offer either mazda spec or superchips.
i know the tuning scene is big in the us, but not massive over here.
shame, the cars are real sleepers! very quick!

Not many tuners can remap these cars. The main one is Sanspeed in Kent. 2 other tuners are coming through, Clive Atthowe in Norwich and Litchfields, although i dont know anyone who has used the latter 2 yet. Get yourself on the mps owners club, there is a wealth of imformation there.
Good place to start is an induction kit/bpv, inlet pipe. then you can go racepipe or full downpipe, fmic etc and of course remaps. There has been quite different results with the remaps, only 2 i know of that have managed over 340bhp, and they had quite a few supporting mods.
As for handling, if its the mk1 mps you need the aero springs.
anyway so much info to tell, best to have a look on the club forums bud
