Mrs Garyhun has family near Leeds and my family are near Amersham, Bucks. We've started thinking of moving from Poole to be around 2-3 hours from each family.

Can anyone recommend any areas that would meet our criteria but are also low crime, cosmopolitan, have great scenery, walks etc etc.

Leicester is the the biggest City that's equidistant but not sure that's where I'd want to be.

Thanks
Gary

cambridge is nice, but its one hell of a way to leeds from there.

I live up near leeds and my sister in cambridge. Take the googla maps time to get to cambridge from here and add 90 mins on for traffic usually :/

Good point. I don't mind a 2 and a half hour run to my parents but the o/h wants to ideally be around an hour and a half max so the South Peaks is ideally placed from that point of view.

Peak district is beautiful, but full of Ramblers in the warmer months and the villages can become quite busy too.
Leicestershire as some fantastic countryside. I grew up in Melton Mowbray, fantastic part of the world, and slap bank between Nottingham and Leicester if you need a city trip.

Another fab choice! Once I have a few ideas from this thread I'll be doing a week long reconnaissance trip I think!
