Hi,

I'm off to Stoneleigh Park for an exhibition on Sunday and the website recommends either M40 or M1 from London. I'm right on the northern tip, so the M1 would seem to be better, but what do people reckon given the current state of roadworks etc?

If you're coming from North London, I would say that the M1 is better. The roadworks are a pain, but on a Sunday there is unlikely to be any congestion. Leave at J17 and go on the M45, it's like driving in the 60s! No traffic and the road is unchanged from when it was built except for the crash barriers.

M40 does get you a lot closer, so that would be my choice.

It really is a six or 2 3's! M1 is a nice bit of road now, and the M40 is a bit quieter. Ive done Cov-London a few times using either road. The M45 is loooovely in that its dead, and as people say, hasn't been touched since it was built, but the M1 is busier than the M40. Neither the 40 or M1 are exciting. I would check the traffic reports on Sunday and see from there. If pushed, the M40 takes you closer to where you want to be.
