cost of headlight conversion?

seen a couple of cars i like but prefer the later style headlights so what would it cost roughly to convert and spray? any recommendations in the south east to do the work?

I'd guess at a minimum of £1k - with the fibreglass work and a front end respray.

A headlight conversion will also require a front end respray - about £1,500ish IIRC, been on Carling since 6 so could be wrong

Be easier and less hassle to buy one with it already done when you think you'd have to budget for the work which could be added to your original budget

I would think about resale value if you mod an early one. I bought an early one despite being able to afford later ones as I prefer the classic sports car look. Even if I wanted the later style lights I would be cautious buying a butchered early one as I can see it affecting the long-term value to some buyers.

I agree with the last post, I'm sure if you wait you will get what you want by adding the conversion money to your fund or getting an early one that has already been modified. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I'm in the same dilemna! I've always preferred the old style lights, but now I'm starting to really like the more modern look of the conversion. But to be honest, the cost really puts me off. £1600 seems to be the average cost looking on the net but that could fix a lot of niggles that may pop up in the next few months. Resale has a bit of a bearing on it too, at least with the old style lights you can sell it with the knew owner knowing they have a choice (albeit expensive) should they choose to upgrade, whereas after the upgrade theres no real turning back

If you are after a Cerbera, I would say forget about the lights. It is subjective (personally I think the original single headlights suit the car a lot better). Just choose the best one you find. Ignoring single light Cerb's may well exclude some very very good cars. If it has the original lights you will soon learn that it isn't the most important thing in life, and they will grow on you. And after a while if you still hanker after a conversion you can get it done. The most important thing is to get a decent car in the first place.

The biggest part of the price of the job is painting so if you had a lot of stonechips and were painting anyway it would be about £500 on top . Anything is reversible and I would say about the same price to convert back to single light.

You should get a flawless job done for about £1600-1700. I thought it was worth doing and don't regret it for a minute, plus if it's badly stonechipped you can get it sorted at the same time.

Everyone has their own opinion but it's a desirable upgrade and most people looking at Cerbs tend to prefer the new lights, although it's unlikely you'll get your money back. Not a problem though if you're planning to get one for the long-term.

These people have just done my front end respray. They have made a superb job. Highly recommended. the headlight conversion wouldn't be a problem to them either.

Not hijacking the post or anything, but what is involved in the Lupo light conversion apart from the obvious, eg Fibreglass, paint, labour as I think it looks really smart without taking the classic look away.
