Today while walking through Manchester a WRX Impreza stopped (and stopped hard!) at the lights, just as I was crossing. Looked up expecting a young lad with a backwards baseball cap tongue out In the drivers seat was a old lady, around the age of 70! I was quite shocked!

Anyone else seen any oddities like this one??

Driving up the A1 last week, I approached an immaculate Mk2 Astra GTE in bright red, original alloys, driving slowly in lane 1. As I overtook, I looked over and saw an old fella, must have been about 80, complete with flat cap.

Totally surprised me.

I've seen some unexpected combinations in the past, but can't recall any particular cases now.

However, when I sold my last Clio 172 I was quite surprised for the buyer to be a middle aged man who wanted it to have some "fun" commuting to work. Good on him I thought! thumbup

Seen a fairly old (60+) lady driving a Focus ST. Not in orange though frown

Always remember seeing a very old bloke in a fairly heaving modified Metro GTI a few years ago hehe Had a cage in it iirc, so was obviously the real deal.

My grandmother has a Subaru Impreza Turbo and my grandfather has a Boxster S. Another of my grandmothers had a Morgan and is about to buy a new Scirrocco. Old people like fast things, its makes them feel alive again hehe

I did see a very pretty young girl driving an Austin Healey once, which I thought to be abit odd!

En route to the Festival of Speed last year we encountered an absolutely pristine UK300 Impreza being driven by an elderly (pension-tastic) couple at a speed in an NSL more appropriate to a traction engine. Well, I suppose they were having fun!

Spotted a trendy looking black lad going past me in Manchester with the bass banging. In a pink Vauxhall Corsa with an atrocious body kit. One of the most bizarre man/car combos I've ever seen.

Every day at the station I see a posh fifty-something year old lady peering over the steering wheel of a bright red Civic Type R. It looks huge on her, and she can never seem to manage to drive in a straight line; she veers all over the place.

I've seen a couple of middle aged blokes with Clio 197s when they first came out. Fair play to them.

Strangest one for me was a R33GTR Skyline with huge loud exhaust, aftermarket rear lights, gold alloys, driven by a perfectly respectable looking bloke in a sports jacket. If the car had been less Jap-style blingy it would not have struck me as odd.
