2006 Proton Jumbuck rough Idle EML on heavy fuel consumption
Discussion
Hi,
Didn't know where to post this, obviously we don't have a Proton forum!!! Thank God.
At work we have a little POS Proton Jumbuck pickup thing for the service engineers to whiz around in and do off site servicing. It really really is awful, but never mind, I don't often have to drive it. I've just sold my car though so I'm borrowing it for a couple of days, and it really is awful! Anyway, I've noticed the engine management light is on and that it's idling really badly, it's revving quite high and it's constantly hunting. Also it's really bad on fuel, around 20mpg.
What could be wrong with it? Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dan

Sounds like it needs some Proton diagnostics to work out what the fault is. Could be an air leak or faulty MAF?

They are marine engineers, more boat builders really. We have a separate site which deals with engine engineering. I don't think they have much interest in it as it hardly ever gets used. I want to have an idea on what's wrong with it before I tell them what to do.
