Biggest garage bill
Discussion
I carried out some work on a 2005 Jag XJR in wich the owner got a bit too entusiastic with 400hp and a wet roundabout
Total was about £14000 and that was for 4 20" wheels and tyres. Front and rear suspension wich included subframes and labour. Nasty
Also did a large amount of engine and electrical work to a Range Rover wich landed a £4000 bill
However I avoid big garage bills as I do it all myself

Had a few working in the trade, thankfully not mine but cars I've sold!
Mercedes ML320 front brakes, pads & discs £795.
Mercedes 320CLS 28 months old FMSH 33k miles and the gearbox had a fault that cost £250 then 2 weeks later the turbo went costing £1700.
And for the most upto date a seat leon with the traction control light on that turned out to be the ABS control unit £1026 all in.

My biggest bill was over 12k on my Mk1 TVR Tuscan.
Engine rebuild, electrics repairs, new front grill, diff mount....etc etc.
Still loved the car though.
Understanding wife got a new Kitchen (cost not included). How could I say no.
Unfortunately wrote it off last year.

I would rip the kitchen out then! No car, no kitchen, sell the kitchen and buy another TVR for christs sake Engine rebuild, electrics repairs, new front grill, diff mount....etc etc.

Car: Porsche 996 Tiptronic
Works carried out: Gearbox rebuild
Final bill: £3000
Plus an additional £4k spend on repairs and maintenance over 3 years of ownership.
Depreciation: £18k
£25k for 3 years of fun.
Plus the interest payments on the finance @ £too scared to work it out = loadsamoney in total.
Not entirely sure it was worth it to be honest.

I bought my e36 328i for £7.7k in 2004 then had the nikasil engine failure diagnosed 2 months in (oil usage the only sign
). That cost me £1500 for genuine parts plus labour at an independent. At least it saved £1k over getting it done at a BMW dealer!
Sadly the car went on to give me two further £1500 bills in the next 12 months! I dread to think what my folder of bills adds up to after 6 years!
