The info from that picture is :

''Row of houses off Portobello Road in Notting Hill''

Are low income families housed in Notting Hill and the such ?

I don't know London so well, but I thought that was a very desirable place to be ?

Of course not.

If we find a really big one we could take out everything from Watford to Maidstone

I have walked past those many a time, the smaller ones here:

http://kimbofo.typepad.com/journal/2008/02/coloure...

Go for at least 1.5 million each

The big ones are double that:

smaller:

Smallest:

Parts on Notting Hill are very rough, due to the large number of estates, the very rich and the very 'poor' living cheek by jowl.

London is a curious mix and sometimes works all the better for it.

I thought as much, I walked though one bit a few years ago. Lamborghinis strewn all over the shop, turned the corner and ended up in a scene from Mad Max.

I never get all the leftie indignation at this.

Sorry but you don't have the right to a nice house in a nice area at the expense of the taxpayer.

Yes. A couple of years ago I did a Stock Condition Survey for a Housing Association in Notting Hill and North Kensington. Portobello Road, Ladbroke Grove and all the surrounding streets are full of 'em.

Don't know what the rents are, because I wasn't involved in that side of things, but they were social housing flats.

A bugger to park up there, mind biggrin

Perhaps Jon Crud-ass can personally pay for them to stay, because I don't want to - they can commute in like the rest of us if they need to work in Lahndan tahn.

They don't work, that's exactly the point. They're on housing benefit. In my eyes this voids any opinion they might hold.

"It is tantamount to cleansing the poor out of rich areas - a brutal and shocking piece of social engineering," Mr Cruddas added."

It will be interesting to see how many of them are all of a sudden able to find some work that enables them to stay where they are..

Edited for spelling.

These Nigerian families of 15 won't be going no-where, they'll claim their human rights are being attacked.

As mentioned above, the human rights act will put a stop to this plan. Families being separated from their extended families and kids being forced to move school etc etc will be deemed as inhumane.

You'd have to fking laugh really if it wasn't so stupid. You can work hard all your life, lose your job through no fault of your own, not be able to afford your mortgage, and be forced to move to a smaller, cheaper home, which might not be in the same town, city or county and that's just fine and dandy.

However if you do pretty much "none of the above", no only will the government house you, but should they have the temerity to say they're going to move you somewhere cheaper, your human rights are being infringed.

Just what sort of monster have we created here?

Yet if you're in employment and get shifted to a lesser paid job, you have to move to what you can afford.

Should be the same, if not more-so, for those on benefits.
