Does anybody know the details of the ESSVT460 kit with respect to required engine tune? Does it run standard CR with a lower boost or is the CR reduced. 450bhp sounds like a nice amount of power, especially with the extra torque and the kits don"t sound that expensive. Has anybody got any experience of how tough the standard M3 driveline/transmission is with this sort of power? I'm more interested in smooth in-gear grunt than standing starts which i"m sure would overwhelm a standard transmission with nearly 500hp... any experience shared would be appreciated.

I did a fair bit of research on this 2 years back.. decided against it in the end, and went for cams/manifolds/xorst/map.. the drivetrain seems to hold up well, clutch, gearbox, driveshaft joints etc.. you will need to run bigger injectors, and the range comes down to about 200 miles a tank on the road, and 75 miles on the track, there are some 2nd hand kits that come up occaionally that people have tried, and either not liked, or moving on to another project..
I went to try the simpson car, but when i got to the track it had broken the gearbox so I cant say what it was like.. personaly I don't like a geared up belt driven turbo type blower, it has to be a roots vane type, which work from low RPM's.. the ESS Vortex type don't get going till mid range, and then run out shortly after, but again, this is what I heard while doing my research.. so i didn't go for it.. you really need to go and test one 1st.. Simpsons are the people to talk to.. consider the resale too.. chances are you may be keeping it a long time, unless you reset it to stock for the sale...biggrin
