Am I correct in thinking that all sales from a dealer (indy and main-stealer) come with a 3 month warranty by law?

AFAIK, they don't *have* to provide any warranty at all.

They are, however, bound by the sale of goods act and the car must be fit for purpose. Major faults that occur in the first 6 (I think) months are deemed to have been there at time of sale so they must fix etc.

As for longer term cover, be careful with any warranties they try to upsell to you, many/most/all are 3rd party ones with plenty of exclusions, £500/£1000 claim limit etc.
