Flickr still #1?

Is flickr still the best place to host/share pics?

My "Pro" account ran out about a week ago, i've tried renewing twice, each time the site errors out AFTER i've paid (shows as $25 payment pending in paypal) so i'm thinking it might be a sign to try something different...

How much would a proper site cost me? Nothing too fancy, just a couple of gigs worth of space, easy upload/organise/etc...

Or should I just stick to Flickr and try a different payment method?

I'd ALWAYS go the 'own your domain' route - had mine for coming up on 17 years. If you are at all serious about your work, you don't wanna be hearded into the 'too tight, or too uncertain to do it' flickr world with the masses.

As for cost, there are many here that do it, hold on, they will turn up.

It's a pain in the arse to copy URLs in flickr...don't know why they cocked up a perfectly good setup...

Used to work fine, but now almost impossible if you end up logged out.

yeah, i'm not keen on the new format of the site either to be honest...

It's only a hobby, and i do like the simplicity of uploading and sharing pics, as well as being able to see how many have viewed each etc...

Also, more people will find them searching flickr than they will searching google (I assume?)

I'v never liked flickr. Photobucket for quick and easy hosting, my own domain for doing it right (eventualy).

+1 with never liking Flickr for this stupid "I find your picture very nice, please join my group" thing.
I used to use photobucket but now I think Picasa Web Albums is the best of all online hosts.
