Being a sucker for barge's and needing something cheap and cheerful to replace the C43 for a short period of time i decided to buy this, it was a trade in at work. It's a E300d non turbo! Slow is not the word!

It has full service history, every MOT certificate from 3 years old and a big file of history. Its just done 121000 miles, which is nothing for these old things.

Overall the condition is pretty good, with only minimum rust on the drivers door and it looks nice and solid underneath. Although i'll need to sort the diff leak out and maybe sort the electic aerial out, as this is stuck.

Couple of pictures..

In a perverse sort of way, I like it. How much did you pay for it? And just how slow is slow? biggrin

Well i got beat by a Fiat Ducato camper van earlier smile Over 60mph its fine and cruises at 80mph easily, you could probably drive it around the world at 80, only stopping for fuel!

I didn't pay very much for it smile

Don't these have 136bhp? Try driving one of the old 75bhp ones, thats a whole new dimension of slowness :-)

Nice wheels. The diffs leak on all of them so unless it's really bad I wouldn't worry. It is worth changing the diff oil though. If it's auto the gearbox oil and filter are worth a change too. Do all the electrics work?

That's the 300TD. This one's probably more like 95bhp.

If you do get round to sorting the aerial, it'll last you about two weeks until it sticks again.

The diff looked quite bad when i had it on a ramp at work, so it really needs looking at. I'm sure how long i'll be keeping it, but if its for any length of time i'll have the lads at work give it a good going over..

Everything works spot on apart from the aerial, which is broken internally and stuck up. Not sure if i can warrant paying about £130 for a new one..

Top barging that man!

Don't change anything - just get it properly clean and smoke round in it until it dies (which will be another 150,000 miles or so yet)

Try the 2.4D in a limo of 1974 vintage that likes to get stuck in 4th gear (manual box, column change) in the middle of London!
