Free Tomtom Map Download?

Hi all, I have a Binatone Carrera Satnav and I've been told that you can download a Tomtom Mapping system onto an SD card, to give a better Satnav.

Is this right and if so, where would I get the download from?

You need the whole TomTom software that would normally be installed on a PDA not just the maps, there is a thread on how to do it here:

I think the software you need is about £90 direct from TomTom, You can buy a basic TomTom for that price at Halfrauds which might be the better choice.

Hi, thanks for the reply! I got the impression that a free download was possible, I certainly wouldn't pay that much to up date my Satnav.

As you said, I may as well buy a new one for that money. Thanks anyway!
