COD 4 PS3 online glithes sunday 24th - hackers?

Total noob to online play and I was online yesterday on COD 4 on the PS3 and the host kept failing and there were alot of interupted games where teh message was "lobby is closed".

this was on team deathmatch. So i Tried a free for all and I joined the game and all of a sudden it all went haywire (i noticed in the bottom left hand corner where it usually scrolls the players that have joined the game that there were some web addresses cropping up advertising cheats).

My level suddently went from private second class to commander level 55 and the top right hand corner changed from 1.4.19 to some stuff in brackets...have I been hacked? it's not my PS3 and to my knowledge it is totally original.

I've nervous about re-entering the environment in case I do more damange or lay myself open to further attacks - is this common or just a glitch?

I'm not concerned about losing my false level ups - i'm only an occassional gamer.
