Parquet advice
Discussion
The build is coming on at a furious pace. This weekend saw me put a deposit on the bifold doors and aluminium windows and the builders are up to DPC. So my attentions have turned to the final floor finish. The extension will be a poured slab, underfloor heating and screed, the hallway and lounge will have the joists packed with cellotex and underfloor heating with a screed added. I'm set on wood and was heading down the engineered oak route, but deep down I want parquet.
So the question is, can I lay it over joist/screed and will it work well with the underfloor heating?

From what I understand, it's not good with underfloor heating. When I last had my parquet floors refurbished I enquired about the feasibility of underfloor heating and I was told that it would cause the parquet to move about too much, breaking the lacquer seal they put on top to help protect the wood. My sister has solid oak floors (not parquet) and has no problems with her underfloor heating though.
There was a thread last week - can't find it at the mo' - where someone asked about an engineered floor. A PH'er was recommended who's a timber merchant in Essex or Kent, IIRC. It can't be more than a couple of pages away in this section.
