saw these by chance on friday evening leaving on the Sizewell branch, thought they might be of interest. Any idea what might be on the carriage ..... would it be so heavy as to need two locos?

Probably doubled up for reliability reasons, so there is a spare engine with plenty of grunt to pull everything along.

Yup, nuclear waste. Headcode 6M95.

Is running up to 5 days a week now and comes straight through central london and the from Willesden up to Crewe. Usually double headed Class 37 but sometimes get a Class 20 thrown in for fun.

They double up due to the nature of the load and not wanting to block the line incase the 37 fails.

Just for your info the following locos are on this tonight. he reason is that the train got caped (cancelled) on Saturday due to a block at Wandsworth Road so they are doubling up tonight:

37601, 37038, 37069 and 37218 with 3 FNA's to work 6M95 16:35 Dungeness British Energy to Willesden Brent and 6K51 21:09 Willesden Brent to Crewe Coal Sidings

Anyone in London wanting to see it I suggest Kensington Olympia at 19:15.

Wish I had seen this thread before.
I suppose that is the (what seems to be) unused(?) line going through Leiston.

Was it going full or empty do you think?

I see in the local press that Sizewell B has just come back online again after a long break

PLUS, Sizewell A is still being slowly de-commissioned. So would that be lo-level waste?

Oddly I see that the rail line does not even go to the powerstation going by Google maps.
