Anybody got any experience of this? I have been bodging it with chemical metal stuff and it has lasted a fair while, but it is now starting again. Reading forums this looks like a common problem. Has anyone had a repair done? I read of plastic inserts etc. The price of a new tank looks stratospheric and then the removal looks doubly painful. It looks like exhausts off, propshaft off, knuckles off etc.

Nightmare.

And yes it's a dreadfull job as it's a saddlebag tank

Tanks IIRC are pressurised so not so good for permenant external patch repairs

As you've been fixing it with chemical metal - which side of the tank is leaking? (only thinking a repair to the inside of the tank might work better with chemical metal when the tank is pressurised and you can get access to one side of the tank thro the level sender unit under the back seat and I think the other side thro the fuel pump access point.
