Last year i was 21 with my Civic Type R with 2 years no claims and 4 years driving.

I'm now 22 with 3 years NCB, 5 years driving, no claims no points.

Insurance has gone from £1400 last year to £2100 this year, yet I am a year older and have another years no claims?

Cars..an expensive game

It's all our fault.

1 in 10 of us crashed last winter.

And a predilection (especially on PH it seems) for accident management companies which have to make a profit somewhere.

You'd have to pay me more than 2100 quid to underwrite a 22 year old driving a Civic Type-R. hehe

Paying for car damage is one things, but the ambulance chasers making everyone get a whiplash claim in doesn't exactly help!

The UK has adapted the US's sueing culture! The only thing is, its worth it if you have an accident and can claim your premium back by making a whiplash claim!

But not siding with insurance companies in any way either.

Hard to blame the insurance companies, given that by all accounts they have been making substantial losses recently.

My auto renewal came through today.....up £60 from last year....bear in mind I have 34 years with no claims/protected no claims/no speeding offences/ no parking offences/ no convictions....this quote included EU breakdown/legal assistance/replacement car/ £250 excess..........

Now after a quick look about.......got the same benefits as above apart from the excess as that is now £0 yep no excess for £106.40 cheaper..... Shop around BUT make sure your benefits are the same...

My 21 year old friend got insured a few months ago for £1000 FC on a civic type R.

He has points and only a couple of years nc too.

Do you think my "young" mate can insure an M3? He's 32, 10 years older than myself

I wouldn't if they didn't immediately go 50/50 rather than investigating properly and didn't share customer details with 'like for like' car rental firms that sometimes exceed repair costs.
