MC Stradale - in the flesh
Discussion
Just come back from Graypaul Edinburgh to view the GranTurismo MC Stradale. It's on a tour of the UK dealer network following it's launch at the Paris Motorshow, and I have to say, it's quite simply stunning.
White with black highlights and interior. They started it up and blipped the throttle, and it was just awesome. Unusual for a production Maserati, a real race exhaust and note, wish I'd recorded it.
For £110k, I has to be fantastic value when compared against other 'stripped out, lightweight editions'.
From what I remember, on top of the GranTurismo S it has:
- modified bodywork, new panels not stick on parts
- carbon ceramic brakes
- stunning 20" wheels
- revised floor-pan at the rear
- completely different exhaust system
- lowered suspension
- carbon seats
- rollcage
- harness
- power increase
- faster gearbox
- bespoke carbon instrument binnacle
- even get x2 Maserati helmet bags for the rear...
what would those options cost on a Ferrari or Aston?
Go see it if you can...

Hi,
I saw it in Graypauls on Friday - it didn't blow me away to be honest! The interior was pretty awesome but the white paint and black wheels didn't fool me! I had hoped it would have been miles more raw especially as it wears the Stradale name! Only a mere 0.3 seconds to 60 quicker than the S... It won't be on my xmas list, however the sound was pretty impressive!

Just had a look at your pictures, what on earth happened to that F50? Surely the Dashboard isn't removed as part of the normal service
It was pretty cool to see the F50 in that state! The guys at GP said it was an oil leak so they had to dismantle the engine, however I am not sure about the dash - I will find out. I can't imagine the bill for that work though...

I was at the Nottingham launch on Friday also and I was so underwhelmed & I don't really get the point of it tbh.
I felt the designer's had been quite lazy! I'd hoped that the car would have a more striking/menacing look about it.
If it is supposed to be a track focused car then the interior was far to comfortable. Ok so you can have the optional rollcage but still.....
My money would be put in to a GT3 RS. Although, the MC Stradale might be a secondhand bargain in a couple of years!

I am another one who doesn't see the point. The Granturismo is too big and heavy to form the basis of a stripped out racer. It also flies in the face of the image of Maserati as the more restrained horse in the fast Fiat stable. I am on the verge of chopping in my 4.2 GT for the 4.7 to get a bit more performance, but if I wanted a real racer rather than a comfy everyday car I'd be looking elsehwere. For me, at least, the point of the GT is to be good looking but restrained, as happy to pootle around town as to blast across continents, and to offer a bit of excitement on the odd occasion it gets thrown down a B road. The MC Stradale just mixes up the message.
Agreed that it was a bit of a disappointment, however the noise was lovely!

No brother, dont feel that way. Its just what an individual likes. Sounded great though "The new cars shape was an anti climax"

Oh i did notice that the video that GP showed had a car in it that has extras on it like the front vent grills ect. On the real car these were missing. A better sleeker sexier body would have been preferred.

The car in Carrs showroom is a GranTurismo S with the MC carbon external kit and gloss black wheels. The Stradale is going to be there this Friday evening.
Will be there from 2.00pm, so will be having a look in the afternoon. Will be interesting to see their MC version next to the Stradale. Stradale looks good value at 110k against their MC (100k list) but seems at odds to take out rear seats and make it less practical on a car that is so large and heavy in basic form.
