Excel conditional formatting - Days left of a project task

I've worked out how to RAG score based on date, but can't for the life of me get a formula to work for showing how many days something has to deliver. Any ideas?

I want it to look at the expected date to finish and say how many days are left to implement, but using =NETWORKDAYS doesn't work for some reason, unless I manually type in the current date and then I have to change it every day.

If you have both cells as a date, you can simply subtract them.
I don't have a version other than Excel 2010 here, but for the older ones you may need to format the answer cell to show it as days.
