Animal Forum

I'm not sure how to go about it, so I'll post this and see what happens.

Given the long threads starting to appear on here, and the very different nature (no pun intended), is it possible to have an animals forum on here?

Many PH'ers have pets large and small, and have questions to ask the wider audience, without the inevitable sour/sarcastic comments posted in here by the non animal "lovers".

Just my 2p.

I looked for a dog training / behaviour forum a while ago to ask some questions about my young terrier but couldn't find anything that wasn't trying to rip me off. So a vote from me.

Oh, come on, how difficult can it be?

Lotus in the USA hasn't had a post since July, even GT Racing hasn't had a post since last Thursday, yet look at the number of cats and dog posts in the last 2 days!

Now look at how quickly those threads would die off without the sour and sarcastic comments that they generate. That's half the fun surely?

The problem with splitting the forums down any further, is that you will end up with loads of fairly inactive sub-forums and the lounge having only "totty" threads in it.

The lounge would get closed fairly quickly and the subforums wouldn't have any 'atmosphere' in them.

The only ones I think could hold up on their own, would be a "Country Pursuits" forum and an "Art, Literature and Culture" forum.

But you could then argue that "Photography & Video, Home cinema & Hi-fi and TV & Film could be combined, yet they all have their own fora.

It gets a bit tedious if you post asking for advice on rabbits and you get the same twenty posts for rabbit pie. It wasn't funny the first time.

You've only got to look at the "Caturday" and "Post photos of your dogs" threads to see how much interest there is.

Add in the horsey women..............

Yep - separate forum for each phylum in the animal kingdom. I'd like an arachnids forum.

... we will create an animal forum for all you who like to keep pets, as opposed to eat them (like I do - though I would say that I mean I like eating animals and not the subset of pets)
