A mate of mine is getting married in a few weeks and him and his other can't agree on a song for their first dance.

I was asked what I would choose and really struggled.

What was yours or what would it be? Inspiration required!

My wife & I had something soppy ...

My cousin recently got married and had a Jamiroquai song - boogie, boogie baby!

Worst two that I have heard at weddings

"Every breath you take" - listen to the frickin words you morons it's about betrayal and separation....
"With or without you" - more complex, but still...

Mine... none - we just had 4 courses of very fine food, drinks and chilled out with friends, no dance, no band.

IMHO it needs to be something that means something to them. We had Truly madly deeply by Savage Garden, not the obvious first choice but it has personal memories from when we first met.

We had "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton followed by "She" by Elvis Costello

Both had personal meanings for us.

A friend had "All the time in the world" by Louis Armstrong. That was quite cool.

Had a scary first dance, all nerves and the like and th OH struggled to move much in her dress so we did the standard feet shuffle thing.
Got married last year and me and the OH decided on this Elbow – One Day Like This.

Got married a month ago and had 'Shining Light' by Annie Lennox.

It's fairly new too, so doesn't sound too clichéd unlike most.

We had 'This Never Happened Before', from Paul McCartney's Chaos and Creation in the Backyard album. No personal reasons really, we just both liked it, and thought it fitted the mood well.

When we got married last year we had two, the first one was "Greatest Day" by Take That a nice slow tempo one that was her choice then an up tempo one to get everyone up dancing called "Life with you" by The Proclaimers. My initial choice was "Just like Fred Astaire" by James, very suitable tempo for a wedding song and excellent words, one of my closet friends had it as his first dance.

We had Lisa Stansfields ' All around the world' 20 years ago as our first dance. Given the choice now we'd probably go for 'Ordinary People' by John Legend - not clichéd and a great track...
