I'm a bit of a steam enthusiast, I find the blend of charisma and power amazing. I've visited a few preserved lines over here, and was thinking of taking a taking a holiday to the west coast of America next year and was thinking if there's much steam left over there? It's just on the list of things I want to experience.

I understand all the Big Boys are out of service now, which is a shame.

They are, but there is one on display at Cheyenne, Wyoming. Damn big thing it is, too.

There has recently been a series of programmes on Sky about preserved steam in the USA.

The biggest one is IIRC Steamtown. Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Biggest steam Loco I've ever seen was at the Henry Ford museum in Detroit, if you get a chance WELL worth a visit :-)

I drove past this one on my way out of Yosemite Valley to Oakhurst, unfortunately it was after the last train had gone so didn't stop.

I also saw a few leaflets for this one while I was in San Francisco and Santa Cruz
