Is this the right place for this?

I have a issue with my side lights on my Elise. This seems to effect my rear lights and the dash board lights. Its not that they don't work, they do but they take about between 30 minutes to an hour to come one. As they do eventually work I presume its not a fuse, it also seems to take longer for them to come on when the weather is cold. The temparture of the engine has no effect on when the come on either. Any ideas?

hmmmmm....

Sticky relay somewhere? Or bad earth (harder to find).

This is if they're just "off" then come on all at once.... if they come on slowly, brightening over time, I'm stumped!

They come on all of a sudden but if its a relay would you hear a little clicky noise?

My guess would also be the relay. If it was an earthing problem/shorting out, then you'd be blowing fuses all the time.

If you have a resistance problem- i.e. corroded terminals, then that could be a bit more difficult to find. Try the relay first though.

Either bridge it with a cotter pin/something pointy, or if possible a piece of wire. If they come on instantly, then you will know the relay is duff.

Maybe, if your ear was right next to it at the time!

Sorry, I don't quite understand which lights take 30 minutes to an hour to come on and how this affects the other lights.
However, lets start with simple stuff, check the tightness of the battery terminals and clean if any corrosion present.
As others have said, all earth terminals, for corrosion and tightness.
Then all relevant fuses, examine these carefully for breaks, I've had odd stuff from aged fuses, connectors and relays, including dash.
Sometimes cleaning connectors, including relay bases can sort things.
Often cleaning is just a matter of making and breaking contact several times, although you can use contact cleaner to be more sure.
