Quick question - what updates have there been to the E92 M3 since 2007? I know stop/start was introduced, but what else has there been and when?

Cheers guys.

When was the rear light facelift?
Also, was the 09 MY update for the HDD Sat Nav intro'd for 09MY, so 58 plates onwards?

Cheers,

Grant,

I think the rear light changes were on the saloon, rather than the coupe. The HDD nav and changes to the i-drive menu (with shortcut buttons on dash) were 09 model year, so 58 plates, but mostly 09 onwards.

The 330d engine was update from 58 plate onwards to the current 245bhp unit.

Sorry Matt, should have been more specific, just interested in the E92 M3.

He loves his diesels. You should see how slow his Suzuki is biggrin I think he's put a diesel engine in it...

If you read the v8s test in car magazine this month (m3 c63 rs5 lexus) they claim that steering feel in the m3 has improved over early models but do not elaborate. Have specific changes been made, does this reflect changes to the chassis for the sport model - or has bmw simply been placing a lot of advertising with them recently?

Are OEM tyres the same as early models or have they changed? Been surprised at how different rubber affects steering feel.

That's debatable! I really dislike the new idrive, 1 button becomes 9??? That's hardly progress.

I am astonished; have you owned both old and new?

The one thing which makes me dissatisfied with my 2008 car is having the old iDrive. I really want the ability to have different screen orientations left and right, or to have a full screen map. I also want to be able to navigate the system with fewer steps, which should be helped by the additional buttons. The old system is also extremely slow to respond to inputs. I find the old iDrive system so bad that I generally use a Tomtom.

The iDrive in my 2007 car is fine. You just need to spend half an hour getting to know it. works well, except sometimes the nav does take a while to respond to inputs (have 2010 disk and latest firmware blown in). The 8 shortcut keys on the dash are good, too. I like iDrive! There. I said it... biggrin

The very worst irritation is a general BMW gripe that it doesn't take the full 7 digit postcode, whereas the cheapest portable satnav units do. Why is this? I pay more for a disk than a small tomtom! BMW, extract thy digit, pronto!
