After a TVR factory tour I've recently ordered a new Tuscan which will spend most of it's life in southern Spain.

I specced a light colour leather for the dash top and I'm wondering if it's a mistake? My concern is about how much reflection I'm going to get in the windscreen, especially in (usually) sunny weather?

Does anybody have any experience of this? It's not too late for me to change the colour as TVR haven't started building the car yet. Any advice will be gratefully received.

It will reflect the light horribly, change it to a darker colour. We had a light grey in the T350 that was trimmed wrongly, it was really off putting. It is now a dark grey

Yep, agreed. A darker top will be much easier on the eyes in sunny weather. The dash vents are silver rings on the Tuscan. Their reflection can be seen glaring on the inside of the windscreen too - but I don't think they do black ones.

Are you having full leather or ambla (vinyl)? Just wondering as the hot climate may have a tendency to shrink the leather if it gets left in the sun alot. Also, much of the interior is glued in place - and hot weather can practically melt the glue. May be worth checking TVR's position on these aspects because its a long way to bring a car back to have trim work done.

That's not to say you will have problems, but I'd raise this point with the factory if I were in that position.

Thanks.

The dash top is vinyl so hopefully the heat won't be too much of a problem.I realise that I'm taking a bit of a risk running this car so far from the nearest dealer, but I just love the looks, sound and go of the Tuscan so I've let my heart rule my head and only time will tell if I grow to regret the decision.

Well, you have the climate, you have the roads. Go and enjoy it - you'll have a hoot.

Very suprised they didn't advise you against it when you had it specced, i was going to have light colour on the top of my dash and was strongly advised against it at the factory

Well yes, a bit embarassing really. They did advise against it (not too strongly though) but I let aesthetics over-rule practicality.

What do you mean with "light" ? What colour have you chosen for the interior ?
My dash is in tan leather (see my profile under "cars") , and it is not a problem.
I think if you go for lightgrey or magnolia, you definately need a darker colour for the dash.

Did you order LHD or RHD ?

I ordered Magnolia for most of the interior, so I'm going to change it for Forest Green on the dash top now.

I've asked for LHD and I've been told there will be a price premium for this, but I've yet to be told just how much?

I've never really had a problem with my Portland interior. The only problems I can think of is going from brilliant sun shine into deep shade when you do get an amount of reflection, I just reduce the speed a bit and carry on. It can be disconcerting when you approach a 90 degree right hander though.
