I'm looking for some help and hopefully I'll find it here.

See I'm customising an Australian car called a Commodore (VL Model 1986-1988) and wanted to do something different for the dash.

Here are the pictures of the dash

Notice the clock in the middle. That's the area I want to customise.

This I believe is the area I have to play with

What I would like to do is have both the clock AND a digital Speedometer in that space per the mock up here;

Or this could be separated into 2 "windows" (which I believe after further thought will probably be the way to go.

Top window (similar to what is there now) being the clock (with the hours and minutes controls relocated to the left of the steering column.

Below that another window with the Digital Speedometer

Can anybody out there build this for me or know someone that can do it?

Motorbikes? LCD? I'm after someone with the expertise to make this up.

Thanks but doesn't meet my requirements at all.

It has to LOOK like what is pictured and NOT aftermarket and definitely I'm not looking for anything for motorbikes.

Is the standard analog speedo driven electronically or does it have a cable? If the latter it will make things more complex.

Are you sure the clock is a separate module behind the dash and not integrated into a larger PCB?

The clock is definitely separate - I'll post some pictures up of what's under there later today when i'm home.

What I'm looking at is a similar clock setup BUT the controls being remote (rather than direct pins as shown)

I think the speedo is driven electronically BUT I will confirm that later today.

Seen this site before - nice gauges BUT wouldn't suit my needs. I'm after some electronic whizz that can make the digital speedo or custonize one to make it almost look "factory" per my mock up picture.

The problem with this sort of request, is that anyone with the necessary skills to build what you want, is going to want paying for those skills!! - tbh, there is so much online resource now availible at a google of a mouse button, that you might as well just learn to do it yourself!, Check out an Ardinuo, get a spare dash (so you can use the same alphanumeric LCD unit, so it exactly matches what you have got) look up how to drive a 7segment lcd from an Ardinuo (will be lots of examples) and have a go yourself!!

Exactly. Or get one of the bike ones and use that to drive the seven segment display on your dash.

Definitely cable driven.

I've always imagined I'd have to pay for this - that's not a problem - just need find the right person to do it. Haven't got the time due to the nature of my work and hence am looking for someone who can.

This is what is behind - the clock is a separate unit which needs to be scrapped as I want the new clock to have remote control from the lower dash and not via the pins.

I had someone make me a digital rev counter way back 22 years ago (OMG Im so old!) that was exactly what I think you are looking for... he was an electronic lad i was at school with and built it from a kit readily available.

I'd recommend you go into the local maplins and ask the young staff if they know anyone who can build something as you describe, try a few stores and you will find the kid that lives for this kind of thing... and to be paid for it will be heaven lol

Its funny you say that. The people I found that could do this(but unfortuately haven't responded to my emails) are / were final year Electronics grads.

Still looking for someone and doing 3-4 years personal study to be able to be up to the level required is not an option.
