Porting saved games from one PS3 to another

My old man bought a PS3 a few months ago but never really uses it. It's one of the new ones with loads of HD space. My PS3 is a 60gb launch model so he's suggested I take the new one and flog the old one. How easy is it to port across all saved games and stuff?

Just take a backup of all the folder structures etc and then copy it over.

I'd keep the 60GB one though and just put a bigger HDD in it.

Just done this as I bought a new slim one to replace an ageing 60. You can connect them both via a network cable and copy the old one on to the new one completely.

I'd stick to the 60gb - why would you want to give up the ability to play PS2 games for a little extra HDD space when you can replace the HDD anyway?

I don't play PS2 games and I reckon it's only a matter of time before I get the YLOD. This is sort of a preemptive move.
