Ramshackle Rally 2010
Discussion
My mate did the ramshackle rally recently and wants me to post it up on various forums, so here you go! Take a look at his vid...
[quote]Hi Guys,
First time poster, so be gentle.
Myself and 3 of my friends drove from Calais to Croatia in 4 days in a car that was worth £127. It was an organised event; The Ramshackle Rally, and it was 4 days of mayhem in the most bodged up, crazy looking cars, all of which barely making the finish line (one team terminally broke down on the M4!)
We made a video which I'm really keen to share with the motor enthusiast groups in order to gain thoughts on these kind of events.

Fair play to anyone who gives events like these a go, and by taking part in a group event, it makes you commit to actually doing it, rather than just talking about it.
I'm not a big fan of the £150 car to get the the 'ring and back, because I'm not sure about the safety of taking a barely roadworthy car onto a track, let alone the ring.
Also, and I'm aware this may seem really harsh to those who put a s
t load of work into these events... But sometimes the "£100 banger 15,000,000 mile rally - all to raise money for charity." strike me as... I'm not sure... kinda self indulgent? The event is just something the entrants want to do, the charity bit seems sort of tacked on the end to justify the whole thing. Still, that's just me being a cynical t
t. If it's something you want to do, and it raises money for charity in the process... Then I shouldn't be sodding well complaining about it!
Good effort though, has to be said. Croatia in a £100 car? Rather him than me.

I’m a bit unsure of the motives here
Is it the promotion of the video and the person that made it (?)
Also there’s no talk of any money going to charity that I heard
The Video
I thought the filming, editing, sound, soundtrack were very good - professional quality
The car
looked pretty good, perhaps better condition than a lot of more recent vehicles on our roads at the moment
My mate’s been on a similar type event Banjul Rally and the maximum purchase price is ignored, in fact many hundreds were spent buying and preparing the vehicles but the vehicles are given away at the end
’It is a condition of entry that All vehicles MUST be donated to the Control Committee in The Gambia.’)
