I've been after a yellow Mk1 for ages, but most started life a different colour and have been resprayed. As you probably know, the only UK Mk1 in yellow is the California 1.8i, and only 300 were sold.

Basically this car has been advertised for a couple of months, and the price has just been lowered. It seems a bit cheap, and from the photos the passenger door doesn't match the rest of the car in colour, but looks like it could be a cheap little project.

Its a good hour away but will arrange to view in the coming few days. Gut feeling says its cheap for a reason.

What do you think?

Any Mk1 with an MOT has to be worth a grand, surely.

I am also suspicious by the lack of roof up pictures...

I think you've said it there tbh. Looks alright but as you know paint defects don't really show up in pics. Just check the usuals but 1k (or more likely, 900 if you wave the readies in his face) is a billy bargain.

New mohair roof is only £260 fitted anyway.

The pax door does look the wrong colour but the pictures are rubbish so it's hard to be sure.
The ad is a bit crap though as it states "Foglights, Steering wheel rake adjustment, Sports seats" which are all wrong.

I'd give it a look anyway though as it otherwise looks sound and it's a good price.

Ad is full of errors I know. I did a data check on it and it was recorded at 108,000 in August 2010, so the mileage may have had a trim or two. Californias don't have a/c either.

Anyway, just rang the dealer to arrange popping over to see it tonight, and its sold. FFS, its been for sale since August, wish I'd acted sooner. Ho hum.
