Was driving north on the M6 today and noticed at the last minute three or more cameras mounted on tripods on a bridge over the M6, couldn't see no police cars or speed trap vans, are these cameras speed cameras?
I always thought that mobile speed traps were either vans or has police cars parked nearby, is this the norm in Cumbria?

Depends where they were.

They are installing traffic management systems on the M6, average speed etc. as per M42, so could well be related to that.

They looked very mobile, there was no warning as usual with speed cameras, i.e visibly marked cars or vans, now worried about getting a letter through the post!!

Were they the ones just north of J35? I saw them too, they are ANPR cameras. Seen them plenty of times before and not heard anything. Normally you see cars pulled over further up the road, but there weren't any today for some reason.

I think so, all I saw was what appeared to be two cameras on the North lane and two for the south lane, they were on tripods, and there was the bridges fxed camera in the middle, I couldn't tell exactly which junction thoughalthough I am sure it was nowhere near Kendal/Penrith

Why was there two per side?, I am sure Cumbria only use vans for their mobile speed cameras
