A couple of interesting items on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TVR-350i-1985-CONVERTIBLE-TA...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TVR-350i-ROLLING-CHASSIS-/22...

For the car, although there's no shots of the chassis it looks too good to break? There's no reserve and currently no bids so could be a real bargain.

For the chassis, hard to tell the condition from the pictures but currently only at £100

Quite tempted by the chassis...A-frame too (I'd go have a look first of course), just for something to play about with, but then again some complete cars are going so cheaply that I wonder if it would be worth the hassle later of building it all back up from scratch. scratchchin

He also has lots of other useful bits and pieces if you check out his 'other items'.

Targa panel anyone ?

The car looks as though it would be trailling arm but the chassis is A-frame. This might make a big difference to some bidders.

"IT DOES HAVE SURFACE RUST ON IT BUT NO CORROSION OR ROT."

What is surface rust then, if not corrosion?
Again, typical wedge chassis - yes, I'm agreeing with Comadis here, people's perception of 'rust-free' seems a bit warped. There was only 2mm of steel to start with, it doesn't take much to eat it away. We inspect pipelines; you'd be surprised how fast a 6mm wall PAINTED pipe corrodes just by lying around in the British weather. Truly solid wedge chassis are rarer than hens' teeth, and a shiny bodyshell is no indicator of what's going on underneath.

Sorry, rant over biggrin

I had a few folks over to look at my car when it was for sale, and most of em couldnt have given a st about chassis condition or mechanical condition, they were just niggling about stonechips and crazing in the paint. Well, I suppose thats the buyers job to niggle. Thing is, they didnt even LOOK, so the chassis could have been a total dog!

They all look cr@p on the back of the AA truck.

I had some bloke with a "mechanicky" friend looking at my 350i a while back, and they thought one of the doors had dropped a bit, and it might have been in an accident. I thought "WTF" but kept quiet, and they went away. I don't think they were really into the whole idea of wedge (or even TVR) ownership, really.

I think it just comes naturally to old codgers like me, who grew up looking under cars to see how much of the floor was metal, and how much cardboard and filler.

I particularly remember an old Moggy thou' of mine where the only reason your arse wasn't being used as a brake was because the seat belt had been tied to the back of the seat to stop it dropping through the gaping hole in the floor. I think later I upgraded it using a baking tray.

Happy bodging days. hehe
