Hi, just wondered if someone could help me? Today i noticed a small amount of smoke coming from my turbo, does this mean it is burning oil or just getting too hot?
Also is it best not to drive the car until i know the problem is sorted? Thanks.

What car is it, how hard had you been driving, what colour was the smoke?

Hi sorry it's a Impreza turbo, not driving hard atall. Couldn't really see if the smoke was blue or not? I first saw it coming out of the bonnet scoop.

Could just be steam. If its been raining overnight then some water could've got onto the turbo. They do get very hot

If it had been raining the water lies on the intercooler and this sometimes seems like smoke. Alternatively if you have an oil leak from the cam covers or perhaps some crankcase blowby [common on Imprezza's] it may seep up through the scoop.
