The first pic, the side profile, it looks hideous and nothing like the real thing!
The second pic, the rear is too wide for the axle!
The third pic, it just looks so out of proportion!
The fourth pic, i recognise those little vents on the bottom of the drivers side window!
The fifth pic, just looks wrong!
The last pic, the unforgettable jap interior with a different badge!

Fair enough the chap is honest about what it is, but still the question is
Why?
Why?

See I don't understand this at all, why take a good looking motor and change the appearance of it to look vaguely like a Ferrari? The same goes for the kits that are supposed to make a Peugeot 407 coupe look like a 360.

If he took the kit off, he could sell the car and the kit seperately and make more money.

I really dont understand the thinking behind them either, a good MR2 will cost a few k?
This kit must cost a few k too?
Lets be generous and say 6k. So for a total of 10K you could get a very very nice car.
Why bother having something that looks, in my personal opinion, st! (Others may not share this opinion)
I doubt it would fool many people into thinking it was real, then again maybe it does as there seems to be a lot around.
I still dont understand, why???

To someone who would just spoil another car by sticking it on there? The only fitting treatment for these kits is to burn them.

Exactly, your average person isn't going to know the proportions of a Ferrari, they'll see a sporty looking car with a prancing horse on the bonnet and understandably think it's a Ferrari.

Its not though, a replica would be impressive, its an MR2 with some st stuck on it. That dude who made a countach from scratch in his basement made a replica, this thing is just a ruined MR2.

It must also mildly annoy people who have worked hard to get their dream car in a ferrari 355 only for people to wonder whether its just an MR2 with some tat stuck on. Sure the educated will know the difference but lets face it, having a Ferrari is probably 75% driving pleasure and 25% showing off. And before anyone says it, why shouldnt you be allowed to show off?

Why, surely it's his choice what he does with his money, and whilst you may not like it, what is wrong with it? If we all had to conform to the norm the world would be a duller place.
What is it about this place that the fascist view is encouraged.

As far as MR2 based "replicas" (aka fakes) go that one is the first that I have seen that is priced even cloe to this planet. Most I've seen tend to try asking for the thick end of £20k for these cars. Sure, this one needs suspension, wheels, tyres, paint and some interior work to become a closer "tribute" (aka fake), but all of the hard work is done.

For the types of people who this kind of thing appeal to, its likely to look a bargain.

People are saying people do this because non-petrolheads will think anything that looks sporty and has a ferrari badge on is a ferrari. If this is true, then why not just put a ferrari badge on standard mr2? I hate the extreme cars one especcialy because I prefer the looks of the 406 coupe to the 360 and its layout is the complete opposite.

Unfortunately, the majority of the population will believe it's real. Recently I went out to a local pub with some mates, as we pulled in the non-petrolhead mates all said, ooh look a Ferrari! I could spot a mile off it was an mr2 with a crappy kit on it rolleyes

These give people the opportunity to pretend, that is all. In the same way as there are fake watches to try to impress. Some will never, inspite of a lifetime of work get the real thing, so if they choose to indulge a fantasy so what?

what we must not forget though is that some of these are built to a very high standard by the owners. Many on here will throw a cheque book but could never match the skill or workmanship these have on them.

It may be misguided but they cretae jobs and taxes, I can see no real harm in them, if it upsets people so much look away.

" I have had some fond memories in it and hope you do too."

Why, what have you been doing in it with me?

Still, it is a true masterpiece compared with the American who tried to make a Lamborghini out of a 1994 Camaro.

Still, he could always install this:

Wodden engine, wooden go.
