Embarrassing yet fashionable tyre question

Its winter tyres again so Im with the Zeitgeist!

I drive a LR product so go easy on me

On 19" rims the handbook recommends 255/50/19 tyres for general use but 255/55/19 for winter tyres

Why the difference and what difference will it make to stuff like my speedo and things I have yet to think of please?

It will make a difference of 3% on your speedo reading.

No idea why they recommend a different tyre size, maybe because of a tie in with a particular tyre manufacturer

Yes I had thought much the same
There is a much wider choice at 255/50 than the other recommendation
