Good Morning all,

Done a search for this already, and there are so many topics with Cutches it made me dizzy..

Anyway, down to the problem... I have a Mini Cooper Sept '01, over the last 4-5 days i've noticed the clutch pedal is hard to depress when the motor isn't running... gets better one engine is running... Yesterday on the way home from work, and again this morning, i've notices a squeak after i release the clutch after changing gear... also when i depress the clutch fully whilst standing still i get the same noise.

Any help would be appreciated on the cause of this. I think the clutch might need topping up with fluid and bled, but i'm just taking an educated guess. A friend just checked fluid and said there was enough in there... (he checked the brake fluid resiviour.. are they shared.. and yes, i'm not a mechanic.. smile

Thankyou in advance for any help.

It is most likely that its your release bearing guide on its way out causing the bearing to be hard to move, this normally leads to slave cylinder failure and it will be a case of taking the gearbox off to fix it and you may as well do the clutch while your in there

Clutch gone, something to do with hydraulic cylinder also.. good guys at MINI wanted approx €1200.. Ususal garage where i goto couldn't do the job, but suggested another.. just got the bill, €700. I always used to goto main dealer, but the service and general exp from these guys was ALOT better than MINI themselves. Plus they topped up all fluids at the same time, included in costs! bonus.

Thankyou for the reply RKDE, as usual PH'rs spot on again
